trialofthedragon: I love playing this class!

Marja:

I like playing Indestructible while playing this character (our lovely Class Talent): You always get less damage and more experience (Master of War).

It’s a relatively straightforward Class.  The main questions you have to determine for yourself are what type of protection you want (Physical, Magical, or Mind) and what type of fighting skillset/weapon you want (Sword[play] or [Mighty] Axe).  With just the protection Skills, you won’t be able to do anything on your own and you’ll have to team all the time.  Both weapons and no protection means you’ve got a lot of damage potential, but switching weapons is a pain, and you’re not taking advantage of the fact that your Class is basically the tankiest Tank in Innocent Sin.

Mostly, there’s no purpose in taking too many skills outside your chosen Skill Columns.  Early Physical Skills, such as Tarukaja, are useful no matter your specialization, as ALL of your possible damage types are physical attacks.  Reflecting attacks (Tetrakarn, Makarakarn), buffs (I Am the Sword, Bestial Roar, Dragon Cry, I Am the Axe, I Am the Shield, I Am the Wall), and protecting your party (Body Shield, Life Wall) are useful no matter your specialization, but unlike some of the other entries in this one I’m not going to say any of the skills is truly necessary because you’re going to kick butt and be useful no matter what.  In addition, there’s the odd circumstance where you could technically buy things such as Body Shield several times because they exist in each of the categories, but block different abilities.

I will note that you might want to respect as you go along, because Physical is super OP early in the game, and at the very latest by the end-game dungeons Magical and Mind get much more important.  (Also, I’d like to point out—it’s only a level 65 skill in Mind, but Karnanda gets super broken particularly in specific dungeons.  You can let your enemies just continue Charming themselves or whatever and just whale on them while they’re causing all of their own problems.  Crit chance skills are nice, because they help you do the damage.

Swordplay is faster, but does less general damage than Mighty Axe.  (Medium single target in Swordplay does less damage, all other things being equal, to Mighty Axe.)  Many of the attacks in both also do ailment, which, like I said, can be considered much more powerful later on.  (That being said, if you also want to be faster and still want to play Axe?  Try using Skills such as Bestial Roar and Dragon Cry to make yourself faster.  It’s not quite the same but it gets really close.)
