Again guess who has been watching a lot of Twin Peaks + Deadly Premonition.

         Special Agent Alexander Sharpe kneels suddenly.  Out of the corner of his eye, he’d seen something glinting in the grass.
         “Oooh, I like this view,” Officer Lehane comments.  They ignore her irrelevant comment, fishing the object of interest out gingerly holding the pair of vinyl gloves touching the item.
         He squints.  It’s a piece of metal with an inscription, but rust and a hard-to-read typeface have rendered it difficult to make out the words.  “X…marks the spot…where the two become one,” he guesses, feeling a chill run up his spine.
         “That sounds like my kind of party.  Want to check it out together, Mr. FBI Agent?” the officer asks, flirting, but he’s pretty sure she’s gotten the wrong idea.
         From the moment he’d shown up in this town, that girl, the one in the wheelchair, what was her name…Miss Summers, that was it.  She had known him.  Alex had thrown her for a loop, but it was like she’d met Xander before, even though they were both entirely certain that they’d never met her before.  It’s possible that amnesia was involved—it occasionally is, given his condition, hence Alex’s obsessive note-keeping and calls to Willow to keep her apprised, but both of them?  And for the extended period of time it would take for her to get to know Xander well?  Of course, her parents had insisted it was just a side effect of her mental condition, hence their vacation.  To the hotel which just happened to have a serial murder case.  Sometimes, the world’s sense of irony was just a step too far, even for him.  As with the irony, it feels like no mere accident that she knows him, and no mere accident that she’s here.  Another of life’s pranks.  Something about this case just seems personal, and this cryptic message feels like no exception.
         Of course, Lehane’s explanation is probably the correct one.  Common sense and statistics indicate that it’s unlikely someone knew of his coming and went to all the trouble of having the plate made long enough before his arrival to rust, but his profiling instincts say that there is no such thing as coincidence in this case.
         And it’s not wrong, if it’s referring to him.  Alex and Xander together make Alexander, and the only common letter their names share…
         This might be one of their hardest cases yet.
