Death/injury count: one robot ship, kirk got zapped, 1 red shirt (engineer), 53 dead + an entire ship, computer + daystrom gone nuts/in a coma/whatever
Oh hey, this was on at the same time, too.
Don’t underestimate Spock, Commodore Wesley. He knows everything.
Great, yes. Just what I always wanted. I’m a workaholic, you know that. (also I love that he looks offended on behalf of his crewmen that they’re not needed, and then Spock just looks, well. Spockish, but potentially offended.)
Jim’s watching them banter like it’s a ping-pong match, but you’re right, he’s kind of subdued.
Jim’s heard of him but I’m guessing computer science isn’t one of his major interests, considering it’s Spock who’s kind of fanboying here.
And Bones brings up a good point (if it fails, what do we do) and Daystrom is immediately like “does this guy have any credentials of any kind” and Kirk responds with “my crew you don’t disrespect, back off”
It’s the way they named B5.
No, there’s not much he can do without being a Captain.
That was a creepy grin, man.
That’s the back of your head. Is that a headache.
Shake Bones, yes, good.
“Why don’t you ask James T. Kirk? He’s a pretty honest guy.” –Bones
(well, he’d miss exploration. Space. He’s an explorer at heart.)
At least, for the time being, until/unless you replace me.
Why not Bones or Kirk?
(Someone said Spock seemed upset on Kirk’s behalf that Daystrom said he could be replaced, but the way he’s essentially been telling Kirk up to this point that yes, he’s extraneous doesn’t seem to say the same thing. Also, a doctor for a landing party [not necc Bones but someone] is generally useful)
“I’m going to rub this in, Kirk” Daystrom, you’re a jerk.
The thing is, you can’t compute a hunch. You can’t calculate instinct and experience. (Well, you could, but you’d be a better AI than this one.)
And I didn’t warn you about this. I let you worry about things going wrong.
Oh shut up, stop being a smug asshole. I don’t like to swear, but Daystrom, stop it. I will literally throw you off the bridge.
Thanks for the speech on loyalty for Kirk. He needed that.
Captain who?
Kirk is just noping out of there.
And Bones is like “I am not going to let you brood on your own. I’m gonna be there for you and your mind.”
Kirk’s waxing poetic again.
Why didn’t Bones drink much/any of his?
You just wasted Federation property.
Spock actually sounds worried.
Kirk’s getting furious, but then, crewmen hurt.
Great eye-roll.
Okay, never mind, he’s geeking out again.
Look, if it is a child, you at least put it in time out so that it understands it did something wrong.
Human engrams do exist.
Who d’ya think is in control, Wesley? It’s M-5 in control, that’s the point.
“you can’t kill m-5” but 53 people died whatever.
Daystrom is a Christian.
Gamble paid off (but all those people are still dead)
Does it have to be an either/or?
