When she wakes, she’s a little sore, but then again, she’d hardly expected anything else between the night she’d had and where she’d ended up sleeping. She’s definitely warmer than she expected. Spock, she realizes, is sitting on a nearby bench reading a PADD. He must have asked the computer to increase the environmental controls.
“I trust you were successful with the Captain?” he asks quietly as soon as he notices she’s awake, and it takes her a moment to realize why the tone is ever so slightly different and rolls her eyes even as she sits up.
“Holding hands doesn’t mean the same thing that it does for Vulcans. That feeling is jealousy and, given all the logical and emotional reasons I have to be in a relationship with you and not Kirk, completely unnecessary.” She stands. “I assume we don’t have that long until Alpha starts?”
She watches until he stops messing as much with his PADD and relaxes. “Yes. Thank you. I am…unused to many aspects of such relationships, but I welcome learning more about them with you.”
She smiles. “I’m going to go get my uniform on. Don’t break our Captain after I fixed him.”
Spock nods. “It would be illogical to do so, since having a Captain functioning optimally is as necessary as having a functioning starship.” He reaches out to touch her arm and turns to wake up Jim.
