I wonder if anyone caught that I didn't use gendered pronouns for one of the Ensigns.  (Sometimes I like to play these games to see what peoples' first impressions are.)

      Ze doesn’t follow traditional Western gender norms.  Ze’s half human, and like Andorians the other lesser-known species that’s part of Zhōu’s biological makeup has more than two biological sexes.  From what I can tell ze’s closest to the gender neutral option.  Zhōu’s in some sort of relationship with Chey, although it’s not well-known and I’m not sure of the specifics of how it works.  I haven’t asked.  I’m really curious; I read more than I probably should on the topic, but it’s really interesting and potentially personally relevant?  But they also don’t like answering questions about it, and while they probably would as I’m the Captain, I don’t mean to make them uncomfortable in an un-fun way.
      I think Zhōu collects really old tea sets?  I saw a few in zir’s quarters.  I hope they’re well protected because if we have to do crazy maneuvers they might get a bit broken.  Ze’s really not all that talkative, but given the circumstances, I can’t blame zir.  I just hope I can give ze a home ze deserves/wants, because crew is family and I wish everyone else could experience that too.  Only I’ve got the power to make that happen as best I can ‘cause I’m Captain.  Sometimes, the power’s used for good things.
