Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Star Trek crossover
Summary: well...this is kinda the summary
Word Count: 500
Rating: Gen
The members of the USS Valkyrie were chosen for their connection with the supernatural and ancient legends. Starfleet accidentally opened a Hellmouth and were utterly incapable of dealing with the demons that followed.
They panicked. They looked for anyone who might have a connection to the supernatural and rushed them either through the Academy or from other assignments.
The only reason they didn’t completely lose their minds is that they had Admiral Giles around to tell them of the earlier days of the world.
Buffy was brought in as Valley Girl Turned Starfleet Cadet. The change was not understood and certainly drew attention, and her mother and father certainly didn’t approve of the career change.
If Slayers exist, the legends have been lost. She’s still a mystery, but her skill with handling the supernatural and her tested loyalty to Starfleet makes her the ideal Captain. She was in the Command Track and made (sort of) friends with a few others joining her on this “crazy ride”.
Willow’s from some sort of witch species. She’s been casting small spells all her life, and her kind struggles with magic addiction, too. When she was young, she moved and met Xander.
There are plenty of jokes about cavemen with Xander. His mom crash landed on a long-lost Earth colony that had taken its cues from popular visions of the Middle Ages. Upon rescue, he’d thrown himself wholeheartedly into pop culture—centuries of it—and science, especially computers and starships. That’s part of why he and Willow got along so well, babbling about random science things at each other. Later on, he learned that he intimidated people, so he dumbed it down.
The thing is, he’s more out there than Scotty. His approach is mostly ‘jury rig’. Haphazard, like his love life. His understanding of the machinery is sometimes more instinctive than it is academic.
Oz was taken from another ship. He’s only half-human. His people are new to the Federation, but they’ve had myths for a long time, and they turn out to be relevant. He’s their Chief Helmsman.
Admiral Giles personally recommended Wesley, since he couldn’t physically be present. Wesley knows the legends and the languages just as well, just isn’t as well trained in fighting or Away Mission type things.
Their first CMO is Ben Wilkinson. He probably gets replaced after the ‘episode’ The Hand of Glory or The Glory Days, not sure on title, with Tara Maclay, a healer/empath.
Angel is the Security Chief. His inclusion on the Valkyrie was part of the terms of the Aberie joining the Federation. (They’re secretive but it turns out they’re basically vampires who fled the various homeworlds and resolved to not cause trouble to outsiders as to not bring down witch-hunt type things on the whole. In-fighting is different.)
I’m still working on figuring out who everyone else is. Anyone have any bright ideas for Tactical, Counselor (?, not required), or Navigator, or any other places the others might have on the ship?
