“Oh, please, if you’re gonna kill me I wanna be taken out by a man, not a mouse. A real fighter would stake me in front of his friends, not in an abandoned ware…house….” Spike trails off, as Xander opens the door and gestures at the remarkable indoors of his home.
“I realize it’s not much to look at on the outside,” Xander agrees. “But we’re here. Mi casa es su casa. Entre, por favor.” That gets another startled look, and boy, he’s enjoying this, isn’t he? “This humble mouse speaks Spanish.”
Spike rolls his eyes and smirks and enters, and Knight gestures at the corner of the warehouse, which contains a lot of building material and tools. “Grab a tool, get to helping.”
Spike is thrown off. Again. “What’re we doing, whelp?”
Xander grins sunnily. “You’re helping me make your room.” Okay, he might look a bit mad, but he’s enjoying this, really.
“I…I get me own room.” The vampire looks dazed. But then, he’s probably never had one before, probably. Unless you counted when he was human.
“When we’re done with the walls, we get to assemble the bed, try to get the ridiculously small TV up and working, and I trolled Ebay for some rare Sex Pistols and Hellblazer posters. I already did all the electrician stuff.” Knight’s so excited he’s practically vibrating, but then, it was the kind of fun that giving the Avengers all their own rooms all over again.
Spike shakes his head, but there’s a touch of respect in his eyes now. “Bit of an expert on the loony, and you’re a special kind of crazy.”
“Yep,” Xander agrees wholeheartedly and starts rabbiting through the packages. After a little hesitation, Spike joins him.
