madimpossibledreamer: Izanagi|Souji in full costume holding out a hand (personatown)

Part of the reason this fic was abandoned was the subject matter.  It was slated to be an Akihiko/Minato fic, but then I started to think about the weird potentially dubcon considering Minato's also Akihiko's Persona, and that...didn't quite feel right.  So I had trouble writing it or finishing it.  Which is why it is where it is and will probably stay that way.  That being said, there were definitely some parts/lines I liked, and despite it all I find Isabel interesting.  She might appear in something else, maybe, and if anyone wants to see Akihiko or Minato(Makoto) they are probably going to show up in future fic.  Or rather, future chapters of current fic...

When Akihiko awoke, he was walking alongside Minato, who hadn’t changed a bit.  They were walking beside a high wall that Sanada-san, while he knew the town well, had never remembered seeing.  They certainly weren’t in the alley anymore.  He caught a glimpse of a house that might have been the somewhat English house that he’d seen before the whole blue room thing, but it was soon gone behind the trees and a higher wall.  Minato was still walking nonchalantly with his hands in his pockets, his headphones curling around his head in a way that at once was soothing and jarring, as if his death had meant nothing, as if the past ten years hadn’t happened, as if they were back in SEES again, with the familiar comfort of belonging and comradeship.  As if nothing had changed.
For some reason, this just annoyed the grey-haired senpai.  How are you alive?”
“I don’t think I am.”  When they stopped walking entirely, Minato smiled sheepishly.  “I mean, not in the very literal sense.  I’m not even sure I’m human anymore, considering that I’m your Persona.  I’m just not entirely sure what I am.”
“How does that even work?  I mean…”  He rubbed at the back of his head with one gloved hand.
Minato shrugged, hands firmly jammed in his pockets as usual.  “You know as much as I do really.  The first thing I remember since…well, closing my eyes on the rooftop…was waking up in that alley and protecting you.  I think you have the Wild Card now, like I did, but I can’t be certain until we get into combat.  Again.  And as for a guy who was human and dead and then…something else and then a Persona?  When Igor said that your situation was unique, I’m pretty sure that he meant it.”  Wild Card?  He must mean the multiple Persona thing, like Aigis and himself.  Makes sense.
He finally remembered something that Mitsuru had been trying to drill into him for years.  “I’m sorry about asking you all these questions.  I mean, you’re barely alive for…however long it’s been and here I am pestering you.”
Minato smiled.  Again.  It was one of the oddest things in the world.  Apart from seeing him again at all, that is.  “I don’t mind.  It’s kind of nice talking after…you know.  You want to know about the Velvet Room, right?”
          Akihiko nodded wordlessly.
“Okay, the short version is that it was a huge part of how I was able to get so many Personas.  The longer version I’ll go into, but I want to take the explaining slow so you’re likely to actually absorb some of it.  I mean, it must be a huge shock to you.  More so to you than me, and I suddenly woke up from being dead.”  He had to admit, that would be pretty shocking.
“Isabel seems like she hates you.”  From what Akihiko had heard, the kohai had made a practice of dating practically all the girls who would let him close.  Either that, or it was rumor, and he was just really friendly and oblivious.  Akihiko could relate.  At least, he’d been told he could relate.  He hadn’t noticed any evidence of that yet, but he supposed if it was true he wouldn’t really.
Minato looked up from under his hair with a slight grin on his face, as if he’d heard his senpai’s thoughts.  “I haven’t met her, no.”
Well, there went that theory.  “Why does she hate you then?”
“From what I gather,” Minato replied cautiously, obviously thinking about his words as he spoke, “I was the reason her sister left.  I’m not sure she’d be all too happy about that.  And from the way she was acting, she didn’t want to be there, so…me being the cause of a vacancy that makes her have to do a job she hates…” he shrugged again.
They walked again in silence.  Akihiko couldn’t figure out exactly what to say.  He had so many questions he wanted to ask, so much he wanted to know, so much he wanted the other to know.  But he couldn’t figure out what to say first, and he was afraid that if he began to speak he would explode in a shower of words.  He suddenly felt really, really tired.
His kohai stopped him with a look of worry.  “I’m sorry.  I forgot how exhausted I was when I first awoke to my power.  Let me take you home.”
“How do you…know where I live?” the police officer muttered, eyes closing by themselves.
This time, he felt, rather than saw, the smile.  “I’m your Persona.  I’ve become integrated with you, to some extent.  I know the basics.”  A brief sensation of weightlessness met him, like they were flying, but he couldn’t bring himself to care.  Soon he was settled carefully into bed, covers pulled over him.  He’d never felt so cared for, so much at home.
