Seeking Connection
Jul. 20th, 2025 01:37 pmShaun/Desmond was actually one ship that I convinced myself of while writing; I think I mentioned that the first one with the thistles was an afternoon’s whim and at the time was more of a writing exercise than anything else. I’ve read some good ones (like anything Yobotica) but had been more of a casual shipper. Between writing this and The Secret Histories they’ve actually graduated to an OTP. They have really interesting chemistry together and the what-ifs are fascinating. :)
Canonically Desmond has a kid he didn’t know about and did tend to go clubbing a lot. I don’t know how far canon covers, but Desmond being into casual relationships previously doesn’t seem like too far of a stretch, and Lucy doesn’t seem like the type of person who would immediately accept that because, well, society kind of disapproves and she doesn’t seem like she’s been exposed to as much of alternative lifestyles. She’s more adaptable than Bill though (not that that’s hard). The thing is, that doesn’t make her a monster or the villain. It just makes her human.
'not in the way you think' either refers to the fact that he's dreaming as Ezio, now, or that he's trans. It hadn't been intended but I honestly kind of like the line even though I have no clue what it's doing there.
