A Necessary Conversation

I did not realize how excellent a metaphor the thistles would be for this entire series, because the original was just an afternoon’s whim, the thistles were basically just a consequence of ‘what flowers grow near Monteriggioni late in the year’, and I didn’t plan on any of the follow-ups. But man, the metaphor is great. (I mean, roses would have it, a little, but they’re also a little more traditional as these things go and this isn’t, so.)
