The Willow Tapes (Tape 4)
Dec. 30th, 2019 10:32 amWritten after a family vacation to a national park. With my family and complete strangers acting like cultists, sitting in the cold nature-watching, and no culture exploration (such as museums) to speak of, the only reason it was vaguely tolerable was that I took my phone for music and was playing it, earbuds and all, a lot, and the fact that I finally got to read through the Amber books.

Main Points:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer AU (Xander is an FBI Agent. Universe is vaguely based on Normal Again.)
Summary: Xander and Alex like to keep Agent Rosenberg in the loop.
Word Count: 250
Rating: Teen
Willow, I can say with complete and utter certainty that I now have a hatred—no, a vendetta—against the cold. National parks aren’t my chosen scenery to begin with (that would be a museum, or a comic book shop, depending on which of us were in charge at the time), but the fact that the entire place seemed quite determined to kill me, it feels perfectly acceptable to hate it right back. Car breakdowns, surprise snowstorms, slippery roads, and I swear an earthquake tried to throw me off the boardwalk to be boiled alive. I got body-checked twice, too, with no apology, though that was perhaps a grudge against the FBI rather than an accident or anything I’d done, since I hadn’t done anything other than swear viciously at the cold recently. I’d decided to look up the statistics on disappearances on the off-chance that they might turn out to be relevant, and that turned out to be a big mistake, too, what with our tendency toward paranoia. Furthermore, when the car broke down I had to wait for help, in a sudden drop in temperature, on only snacks. I hadn’t had to do that since I was a child and my father was still putting me on the occasional “diet” (feel free to read that as starvation; I did) kick. I fear ‘grumpy’ was more than a little of an understatement. At least the Rangers were helpful, though the rest of the staff came off as somewhat creepy.
