Star Trek IDW 2011 #2
Aug. 26th, 2018 10:44 pmHuh, it’s cool seeing Kelvinverse Jim dealing with the events of Where No Man Has Gone Before although there aren’t that many differences (so far, it’s the color of Jim’s hair & eyes, Bones’ eyes, and Mitchell actually making a yellowshirt friend of theirs, Kelso, commit suicide. Well, and the communicators & phasers’ appearance)
Okay, showing him the past.
Also it occurs to me that they cut out Dehner, who was kind of crucial. Also, it’s marginalizing the role of women again. I wonder how they’ll deal with this.
Jim’s eyes are briefly brown. Odd. (his hair’s inconsistent in color too. That’s just bizarre.)
I refuse to believe kirk actually regularly cheated on exams. Despite what gary is saying.
And spock comes in with a Vulcan nerve pinch as a deus ex machina. Great. /sarcasm.
I like that it’s depicting a more thoughtful version, who’s less overconfident & shows vulnerability. Some of the internal lines are new. I think.
It leads to them playing chess, and Spock actually noticing something’s wrong & attempting to help, so that’s something.
