         Xan, the voice is low in his ear.  He’s tired.  Doesn’t want to move. 
         Xan, please.  Say something.  Quietly, if you will.  Tell me I’m not alone.
         He groans, a bit too loudly because the sound is cut off abruptly.  Alex took over, probably. 
         His head hurts.  No, it’s more than that.  It’s like there’s a vice clamped around his head, and it’s throbbing.
         “Xan, we were kidnapped,” Alex whispers as quietly as he can.  “You probably have concussion.  We’re tied.  And, I don’t know this for sure, but—I heard them talking.  About Kennedy…”
         Simultaneously, that gives him a sick feeling in his stomach, but it sharpens him, gives him something to focus on other than the recurring pain in his head.
