Star Trek: Elaan of Troyius (First Watch: S3E13)

He’s Dead, Jim (Death/injury count): troyian ambassador wounded, red shirt (Watson) killed, Kryton died for jealousy (you really should’ve taken that slingshot maneuver instead of selling out to the Klingons)

Bones, yes, good.  He’s rolling his eyes at Bones for getting off-topic while he’s supposed to be on duty.

…wait.  Helen of Troy, anyone?  That’s not even subtle.  Was it meant to be subtle?

Kirk closed his mouth there.  Good.  (also yes, she’s pretty.  What sort of role will she have, other than most likely causing war?  …well she had daggers on her legs, didn’t she?  Maybe she actually gets to fight.  That wouldn’t actually be out of the question with this show.  (no, maybe those are boots…it’d still be cool!))

(kirk’s most upset that he’s not being allowed to be Captain.)

Scotty is disappointed in warp drive.  *laughs* he just wants her to show off her best and go off and have nice adventures.

Well, throwing pillows is…okay, she broke that.  uhura’s not gonna be happy.  (unhappy with the female stuff, I can understand, having friends like that, but also hey)

Kirk can 100% diplomacy.  “that’s not working, try a different approach.  She respects strength, use strength.”

Well, he just suggested an approach, not, y’know, ‘try to murder her, that’ll work’

“It is my experience that the prejudices people feel about each other disappear when they get to know each other” –Kirk yes yes yes you generalize about a group and then you get to know an individual and think ‘oh they’re not so bad’ and then you realize that the generalization is dumb.  (this can work the opposite way, too, but.  Even when you dislike them, you realize they’re only human (a living being, in the case of star trek) and it’s difficult to think of them as completely awful when you know they have their own hopes and dreams and fears.

I like Kirk’s diplomacy.

The ‘women are irrational’ thing you say, that’s kind of rude.  That’s something I would’ve expected from Spock.  Or maybe McCoy.  (Unless you’re going ‘no one else in the galaxy besides Vulcans are logical, and that’s also…problematic.  Less so, but still problematic.)

(yeah, kirk looks actually ashamed here.  And he’s not ashamed of actual interest.  …maybe he’s just very sexually frustrated and gave in to desires he knows he shouldn’t have??)

Ms. Fighting Lady is suddenly uncaring about fighting.  Unrealistic.

Okay yep he did sleep with her.  He’s human.  He’s got flaws.  That was also extremely dumb.

At least he’s repulsed by that plan.  If not by the kiss.

…that’s awkward.

Even Spock looks slightly repulsed.  Or like he’s digesting something not fun.

Bones doesn’t approve, either.

Good job bones you really nailed that and by that I mean you were completely and utterly useless at keeping her in Sickbay.

Personal space is not a Starfleet thing (actually, yeah, kirk’s always leaning forward into people’s stations as they work, bones does that with the Captain’s chair, and nobody actually spreads out in the lift thing.)

How can scotty fix something if he’s on the bridge?
