Star Trek: Assignment: Earth (First Watch: S2E26)

(man, everyone's contacting me at once, and they're all doing it when I"m half asleep.  I don't know if this counts as good or bad luck anymore...)

Death/injury count: well, one security guy got attacked by a cat.  1 red shirt sent to sleep. 2 more sent to sleep.  1 sergeant sent to sleep.  Seven smashed over the head.  Guy nerve-pinched.

Uh, why are you in the past again?

Well, they’re acting like going to the past is ‘normal’.

Well, no transporter beam can reach that far unless you’re JJAbrams.

Wait, it’s cat guy again?

Oh, wait…that comment from Rahirah was premature, probably, or…no, I mentioned “the one with the cat” but this is the one, not that one.  But then, I made that mistake too when I responded to the comment, so… *shrug*

Also, totally don’t trust the cat.  It’s controlling everyone as cats’ paws.  (they were showing a lot of the second season on TV weren’t they?)

Jim I thought was going to help the guy with the cat but instead went for a phaser.

Why was the phaser green.

Bones just all worried because phaser fire.

Spock is being controlled by the cat.  I mean, he should be able to read its mind with Vulcan telepathy.

(seriously, what’s the crisis they need the past info for?)

Oh, and yeah, in case it wasn’t obvious, this isn’t technically a first watch.  I’ve seen this one too.

Ooh, they gave Gary Seven a Sonic Screwdriver, nice.

I’ve done that awkward dance before.  Though most people probably have.  You both try to get around each other and ultimately fail for a while.

“Although behavior appears erratic, possesses high IQ.”  I like that (& did the first time around too).  not just writing her off as an airhead.

The idea of Kirk ringing a doorbell is funny to me.

I have to say, they did a good job keeping me in suspense (not used in the Hitchcock manner, of course).  I had no idea whether he was good or not the entire time last time.

I thought you had to lock in on people specifically.

I made the “I can’t walk this way” joke last time too.

I thought I missed something last time, but no, the setup was worse than normal.  Like, the episode itself is fine, but the introduction not so much.  (mostly for why the Enterprise was there.)

Scotty’s got on his ‘I don’t trust it’ face again.

Isis is a backseat saboteur.

Kirk, why aren’t you flirting with your interrogators again?

She’d make a good companion.

That’s a good question why wasn’t this show considered “communist” because it was anti-Cold War?  (or was it under suspicion or whatever?)
