Happy Thanksgiving to those of you who celebrate it!
I was thinking about it, and the first meeting between Vulcans and Humans was probably very awkward. Not all cultures greet with a handshake, but there's enough Western influence (France, the UK, America) in Starfleet that it's a definite possibility.
With Vulcans, who are touch telepaths and among whom hand-holding is kinda like kissing, or making out.
Humans still have the reputation of being an overly friendly species, and Vulcans have found very little data to disprove this notion.
