On The Pretender
Nov. 1st, 2017 11:34 pmJohan’s Stand of The Pretender actually really fits his character because he seems like a person, to me, who spends a lot of time wishing he was someone—anyone—else, so the fact that he can pretend to be other people and not be himself is really the sort of thing he’d want. He’s the kind of guy I think pretends he’s fine but actually has a lot of self-loathing. He’s not even noticing himself becoming a better person, as Johan, as he matures, because he wouldn’t notice that or think about it or believe other people when they point it out, but it is true. Still, it means that the Stand does in fact reflect his mentality. I totally didn’t think about that when I was designing the Stand but thinking about it now, it worked out pretty well.
