Unexpected Thought Processes
Oct. 4th, 2017 11:48 pmPoint One: I love the 2009 Star Trek movie. Though part of that might be that I love time travel and AU tropes.
Point Two: I hated (well, was annoyed by) Into Darkness so much that I didn't even bother with Beyond. The most infuriating stories are the ones with potential that don't live up to it. It'd switch from *yeah, this is awesome* to *oh god why who wrote this who gave them permission to write a thing* every three minutes. I swear I got whiplash just from watching. (For one thing, why on this green green earth do we need to have a 'person right next to lava but don't worry the heat in the air alone wouldn't fry them' in every single frickin' movie???!!!? I'm gonna go with the Vulcans on this one and say it's downright illogical!!!)
Point Two Point Five: Sooo pretty much everything probably goes AU after the first movie in my head, though since I liked random parts in Into Darkness they can sorta exist. In some fashion.
Point Three: My brain is a weird place.
Point Four: Hence why this somehow came out when reading a lot of McCoy/Kirk fanfic. I ship Spock and Uhura (and actually threw my hands in the air when I realized Uhura was flirting with Spock in the first episode of the Original Series) more than Spock and Kirk. Actually, I don't ship Spock/Kirk at all, which...yeah, odd. *shrug*
Point Five: I was probably also a little annoyed that Kirk tends to be one of the characters that people underestimate/dismiss. Which is actually probably part of the point (he's one of those people I think probably try to be underestimated, but still)...he's smart and a good leader/friend when he tries. He just doesn't try very often.

Main Points:
Star Trek (the 2009!movie verse)
Summary: As the dust settles, Spock has a discussion with Kirk. (Actually, this is where it starts to go AU, already, because I really like the idea of Kirk actually being a competent Captain when he feels like it and Spock being all confused about how that happened is great.)
