Blessings of Stardust: Undercover Snags
Nov. 14th, 2016 09:56 pmI was debating whether this should be another slash fic, and then Yosuke just started flirting and I sit back and go, well. Okay. This is happening.
(Yosuke, stop being an idiot. I know you can.)

“Who are you?” The voice is cold, matching the icy metal placed against the back of her head.
“This is probably a stupid time to mention that I’m actually capable of rewriting my body using the whole Magician powers thing, huh.” Her hands shake, but she’s not too worried about Narukami shooting her. It’s just a misunderstanding. The Captain’s not the type to just go shooting people. “Well, if it helps any, that was me being the idiot that I am. I just wanted to flirt with you. But I should’ve kept my mind on the mission.”
“You don’t have any tattoos.” The silver-haired Captain’s tone is derisive, much more expressive than normal. I was looking forward to him taking down his walls, but not like this.
“Actually, I’m using makeup. Took me a while to find something that I wasn’t allergic to or didn’t drive me nuts. Let’s be honest—a beautiful woman with Magician tattoos? That’d get attention in a way we wouldn’t like.”
“Why didn’t you just rewrite those, if your Magician powers are that strong?” the man asks, still emotional, and Yosuke resists the impulse to roll her eyes.
“I can’t. They’re a part of me. I’d…I’d stop being a Magician entirely, or stop existing, or…or something. I don’t know what happens to those who try. I’ve never known anyone who has. That being said, rewriting, say, to a different gender? It’s not exactly trivial, but, well, it’s not like it’s unknown, either.” She bites her lip and looks uncomfortable.
“What’s wrong?” He’s still harsh, but there’s something a little softer in the voice.
“…I was kind of nervous, so I may have had a little too much coffee before this, and, well…I have to go pee.” That blunt honesty is still something she has trouble with, along the lines of she does it too much, but while she’s at it. “I didn’t actually drink any of the wine. I figured that now is not the time to figure out whether my rewritten body is actually more of a lightweight.”
Narukami chuckles, but the revolver doesn’t move a centimetre. She sighs.
“Look, you can watch like a pervert if you want, but I really have to go.” Narukami starts for the first time, metal trembling slightly, and then she winks. Even though he can’t see it. Damn it. “I didn’t say I’d mind. Just…pointing that out there. I…I like you appreciating the work I did. It’s my second time messing around with this, and I think I did a better job this time. But I can take off my makeup and reapply it, if you’re not convinced that I actually have the Magician tattoos. They’re unique per person. Don’t know if I brought that up, but it’s true.” The more she talks like normal, the more obvious it’s him. Maybe.
She hopes.
“Even do whatever scan you want or jack in or whatever. But we really gotta go, now.” And she starts walking away.
“…Damn it, Yosuke,” she hears very quietly behind her, and Narukami begins following. Quietly. Like he does.
