“Gavin?” Apollo says again. Okay, maybe it’s a little too much of an echo, but really? Kristoph Gavin, who’s been such a help so far, getting past the original tests, always there with helpful tips.
Wright shakes his head. “Did I make a mistake?”
Apollo sighs. “No, it’s…he’s done a very good job.” He hadn’t meant to make Phoenix second guess his decision to trust Justice. There always was something slightly unsettling about Kristoph, but still. “So, if he’s evil and trying to use the Shadow Games for something, then…what? How do I deal with it? Are you going to be around to help out?”
Phoenix reached out a hand and put it on Apollo’s shoulder. It’s probably supposed to be comforting. “Apparently you have powers. And your bracelet should help. The main thing you should be concerned about is acting normally. And, no, I can’t involve myself just yet. We’re fighting too, but you’re on the stage and all eyes are on you.”
Apollo raises an ironic eyebrow. “That might be a little difficult, given everything I just learned and what we just went through.” He sighs. This is a lot of pressure. “I’ll do what I can.”
“I believe in you,” Wright states. On goes the hat and scarf, and with a wave he disappears into the woods.
