        Now you might be thinking ‘how’s that possible?  Do you work at a gourmet pizza place or something?’  Wrong, because there aren’t any gourmet pizza places in dear ol’ Sunnyhell.  Or maybe I’m the fastest driver or something.  Wrong again.  It’s because pizza delivery drivers have a nasty tendency of falling on barbeque forks in our little town, and I’m the only one who’s lasted this long.

          “I’ve really become an adult.  I commute to work like everyone else.”
          “You know, most night shifts aren’t like yours.  And most don’t use Willow’s Patented Magical Teleport Transportation System.”

        Higashi walks out of the office and sighs.  “Why are you here, Yagami?” 
        But Yagami’s also actually relatively serious for once. “Have you seen Kaito-san?”
        “I shouldn’t be seeing you.”  The yakuza leans on the counter.  “What did you do?  I’m not a damn counselor, y’know.”
        “It was actually something Kaito did.  I think he was embarrassed because he ran off right after and I think he’s been avoiding me since.”  Yagami’s fiddling with his hands and not looking up.
        “Uhh, okay.”  Guy’s weird.  “What did he do?”
        “He’s embarrassed enough.”  Yagami stands abruptly.  “Just…if you see him, tell him the only thing I’m mad about is the fact that he ran off before we could talk about it.”
        And then, just as quickly as he’d appeared, he’s gone, walking up those stairs before Higashi can even reply.  “Asshole,” Higashi replies, but he’ll do it if only for Kaito’s sake.

         Giles wakes to a knife to his throat.  The lights are on, and Xander’s eye is cold.
         “Ya might be the best Otousan I ever had, but I’ll still slit yer throat if you hurt Buffy again.”
         He walks away and Giles instinctively swallows.

         “Are you a vampire?”
         He knows that the laughter’s scaring the guy, but he can’t help the chuckle, eventually answering as he wipes a tear from his eye.  “Naw, no fangs here,” then continues on impulse.  “Fangs for askin’.”  Winking with only one eye is strange.  He does it anyway.

         “Did you make with the smoochies?”  It’s still quiet, but the word are entirely that of Old Xander.  He’d been quietly waiting in a doorway.  In the dark.
         Despite himself, Rupert finds himself blushing.  “Wh-what…” he stammers.
         There’s a grin, quicksilver and dangerous.  “Y’kinda…Yer tone.  Ya weren’t too subtle.”  The voice is still quiet, and he shrinks back a little after he speaks, because he sees the hurt in Rupert’s eyes that he wasn’t able to protect his boy.
         “I suppose not,” he responds with a smile.  Perhaps this will be a good thing, after all, because Xander doesn’t feel like an empty shell anymore.  “I’m glad you’re all right,” he continues, and watches as the lingering, careful tension drains.
         “I hope I can make you proud, Oton,” Xander states, and it’s not the same smile he’d had before but it’s real, and the fond teasing tone in his voice is also real.
         Giles can’t help but clean his glasses, hoping that the boy doesn’t notice the wetness gathering in his eyes.  “You already do,” he whispers, and pretends not to notice Xander’s eye gets a little more moist too.

         “I swear I’m smart,” Tony mumbles, staring at the screen, and jumps a little when she starts giggling.  “I am,” he protests, cheeks turning a little red.  “I’m certified and everything.”  Okay, he might be quiet and more than a little weird, but anyone who can make jokes like that (at least, she’s pretty sure he’s joking) deadpan are pretty cool people in her book. 
         “By an institution?” she plays along, and that actually gets a snort and the twitch of pretty lips.
         “Yeah, an accredited one too.”  He allows a quiet chuckle to escape, and it’s kind of cute (especially from one who, it seems like, is always holding his real self back).  “Master’s,” he explains eventually, still grinning.

           I was just keeping him calm!  Despite her stubbornness, he could literally feel her barely staving off exhaustion.  They were sharing a body, after all.
           Yeah, yeah, you deserve a medal.  The teasing was fun.  And the realization hit him with a shock, so much so that he had to fight her noticing, or even letting it affect their body.  He literally wouldn't give this up for anything.  Mentor-father-friend...his relationship with Alex was complicated, but he'd grown to love her-not in a I would totally take you if I had a body of my own way.  More like what he'd felt with Patty, except for more respect.  She was an equal, and he couldn't imagine her not being in his life.
           Dante!  she slapped him mentally, annoyed...but it was the kind of annoyed you'd have with a close friend.  Dante had never had a friend before, he realized.  Not really.  All of his relationships had to be so complicated, and it didn't help, to some level, that the main way he'd ever thought of interacting with women before was flirting.

          “And as a Joestar, you might experience some problems with planes,” Jotaro mentions once randomly during a story about barnacles, and yare yare dazes at the wry look on Giorno’s face.  “You’re not serious.”
          “A blob Stand ate our plane, which reminds me…” Giorno stands up, grabs a book of maps, and sits back down again, crossing his legs carefully.  “Passione doesn’t have quite the reach for this warning.  If the Speedwagon Foundation could warn ships to avoid…this approximate area…”
