For the one yesterday, There's Always Something, the emphasis on emotion and will makes more sense while reading this (even though, strictly speaking, it's universe optional). A Stand is your will to fight, so having a stronger will to fight makes you more powerful and more likely to be able to protect/defend.
I actually know what Citizen/Soldier does now (that's John's Stand), but I'll write about that in another post.
Enjoy, dear readers!

Main Points:
BBC's Sherlock, Standverse (John has a Stand)
Summary: Mycroft and John meet differently.
Word Count: 150
Rating: Gen
“It has come to my attention,” the ginger states pleasantly, “…that you are acquainted with a certain Jotaro Kujo.”
John opens his mouth, only to be cut off abruptly.
“I would not advise you to lie to me, John. I’ll know.”
Watson clenches his fist. The menace in the air is thick, cloying, almost to the point he can’t breathe. He’s entered a battle stance, he knows, and Citizen/Soldier is itching to get free. The only thing that stops him is that this adversary has yet to show his own Stand. He doesn’t want to get into a fight against an unknown ability if he doesn’t have to do so, even as Jojo’s words echo around his head. ‘Stand Users attract one another, John. Be careful.’
“By…observation, yes?” His voice is a little less steady than he’d like, and he’s met with a terrifying toothed smile.
“You were saying, Doctor?”
