I am randomly hungry.  (Don't tell me I'm going to randomly gain a birthmark and grow taller.  ...No, actually, do tell me, because that would be awesome.)
THE FEELS.  :D These are fun ones though.  I just.  I love the Apollo here.  (Klavier, too.  It's fun writing in his pov, sort of.)

Main Points:
Ace Attorney universe optional.  Hurt/comfort with a fluffy ending.
Summary: Apollo has a question for Klavier.
Word Count: 550
Rating: Gen
Notes:
Follows off From a Place of Doubt, though you don't need to read that to understand this.  SPOILERS for Apollo Justice (comes after the last case).  Hints of Klavier/Apollo, but can be read as friendship/gen.

“This probably isn’t the right time.”  Klavier shakes himself out of the lost haze and turns to look in the direction of the familiar voice.  His eyes are dry, perhaps too dry, but he’s tempted to start the nigh-hysterical laugh once more.  Apollo’s blunt and never has had the best timing, but, well, that’s Forehead for you.

“Go ahead.”  He tries a smile, but given the grimace he gets in return it’s garbage, so he quickly discards it.

“Why did you send us those full-price tickets?”  It’s genuinely curious.  Not accusing, perhaps slightly annoyed.

It takes the prosecutor a moment to even comprehend the question.  It’s not that annoyed, and given that Apollo generally had an air of annoyance at the world, it wasn’t that bad.  Though, of course, the former star would’ve been annoyed if he’d been sent full-price tickets by the lead vocalist in a band.  It had been simple oversight.  “I thought you would enjoy it.”  That had been very wrong, of course.  Who would’ve guessed the loud lawyer would hate loud music?  And he hadn’t been thinking a murder would happen—who would?

Brown eyes narrow, and a few wrinkles appear on that ridiculously broad forehead.  “Given everything that happened, it wasn’t the worst concert I’ve ever been to.”  Truth.  A ridiculous truth, but it’s said so matter-of-fact it didn’t require that much thought.  “But that’s not a full answer, Gavin.”

For a moment, Kristoph’s disapproving face appears in Klavier’s mind, and he flinches.  Suddenly there’s a hand on Klavier’s shoulder, and that’s not Kris.  The older brother had never been fond of touch, while Klavier…the feels of calluses from playing guitar, a handshake for work, hugs among friends, a kiss to the latest lover…he’s always craved it, always casually done it without a thought.

Apollo, he’d thought, was like his brother.  Probably part of the reason Kristoph chose Justice as an apprentice in the first place.  Workaholic, not prone to random, affectionate touches.

It’s small.  It’s hesitant.  It’s warm, and it’s grounding, and it’s very much Apollo.

He can see why his brother would hate touch so.  Boundaries disappear.  Suddenly you’re close, emotionally, physically.  It breaks down the public face the Gavins wear.  His world is fracturing, had fractured already, but he had been trying not to process, to pretend the world still made sense.

He’s still not crying.  Maybe he’ll never shed tears over Kristoph.  But Apollo’s taken aback, so the anguish he’s feeling must be showing on his face, now.  “I don’t know.”  The words are small, insignificant, drifting away, and yet Apollo still hears them.  Of course.  He is practiced at hunting down the truth, after all.

“I won’t say I’m sorry, because I’m not going to apologize for finding the truth, or for sending a murderer to jail.  And I don’t think you’re ready for what I see, but.  I’m willing to wait, Klavier.”  Suddenly he’s enveloped in a hug, and it’s everything.  It’s just as awkward as the hand, but just as an unsure Apollo gropes in court for the truth, so Apollo doggedly hangs on, and in that moment becomes Klavier’s lifeline.  Whatever he’s realized, whatever truth he’s found, Klavier doubts he even knows, but Justice always shares his findings with the court, eventually.  Klavier’s willing to wait, too.
