madimpossibledreamer: iron man flying (iron man)

...okay.  The rug fell apart in the washer, which is fun.  Supposedly it was machine-washable but apparently rubber backings are nothing but trouble.  I cleaned it out as best I could and the next load doesn't seem to be flooding anything so this is probably the best-case scenario.  /knocks on wood
Hope everyone else's Monday went better than mine!

Main Points:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Iron Man Crossover (Self-Made Hero)
Summary: Xander and his team of Starks actually get around to planning an escape.
Word Count: 875
Rating: Teen?  some pain

Next time he wakes up, he’s in pain.  It’s not like he feels like he’s currently on fire in any of his blood vessels, so that’s always a plus.  Mostly just like the aftereffects.  He’s trying to uncurl from the fetal position he seems to have found himself in when he woke, but it’s proving difficult.
He nearly screams at the migraine he finds when he opens his eyes.  It’s not like it’s unexpected.  Between all the stress, the lack of food or water, never mind the fight, overexerting himself like that, it’s no wonder.  He squints, and, well, it’s not like it gets any better, but he’s a little more used to the pain.  There’s a screen in front of him.  He does what he always does, babbling and analyzing everything to distract him from the pain.
“What?” one of the scientists asks, shocked, and it takes him a moment to realize he’s naming every single demon showing on the monitors, only he can’t quite seem to stop.  It’s giving them more information that he really doesn’t want them to have about him, but he’s having issues forcing himself to be silent.
Fortunately, he’s not alone, and some of the others don’t seem to be having the same difficulties.  I’m used to dealing with these kinds of limitations.  Oh…the Don.  Of course.  Always gives him a slight shiver, but they can’t deny that he’s useful, or even less morally objectionable than the supervillain they burned out of their mind.  There’s a slight, fond smile as the Don addresses him again.  I have the feeling calling your objections ‘cute’ and ‘quaint’ won’t help in any way.  He can’t deny that he’s effective, though, as they trail off into a whimper, rather than simply going silent, which would be suspicious.  He’s being prodded more, and it hurts, but it’s farther away, muffled, like there’s a blanket draped between him and them.  They’re all forcing their way through, some more spooked than others from the PTSD Rhodey’d correctly tried to diagnose.  Pain is nothing new.  The collective hangovers alone are nothing to sneeze at.  Getting kidnapped is, unfortunately, nostalgic.  We have a few alternatives.  If we hadn’t gone so hard before, false cooperation might have gotten us a better look at the operation.  It’s possible to still play that card as a ‘desperation’ move—you’ve ‘realized the danger of your situation’ and are now willing to play along.  We could continue to stall, hoping for rescue, though there’s a time limit on this that corresponds with your psycho teacher’s dwindling patience.  Technically…she teaches psychology, but the fanatical look in her eyes says she’s willing to go pretty far for her pet project.  Very possibly as far as murder.  We could also try to break out on our own, though we’re running low on intel or resources to do so.
It’s effort to think past the waves of pain and respond, but he makes the effort, because he has the very distinct feeling her patience is disappearing if she’s willing to possibly get another human killed.  Recommendations?
The Don starts mentally drumming his fingers.  None of us are amateurs with weapons, even if they happen to be relatively primitive ones like knives.  As several of the others have pointed out, it’s useless without an idea of the escape route.  The Sorcerer Supreme probably has some sort of incantation to read minds, so it’s possible we could use that to gather the missing information.  In such a case, the surveillance might become an issue, since it’s probable they’ll check on us the second we start casting a spell, now that they know we’re capable of that.
He winces, actually on the outside, but fortunately that could be mistaken as a response to the pain.  Sorry.
Don’t apologize.  Prime, sweating but finally more present.  Better we show off the magic, which is a tool that requires training and skill to use.
Young Tony agrees, putting a comforting if imaginary hand on his shoulder.  If they figured out how the Exoskel worked and started mass production?  It really would turn into Armor Wars all over again.
The Sorceror Supreme finally stirs.  Reading minds doesn’t even need an incantation, but that demonstration exhausted most of our power.  I even know a spell of teleportation, but…
Silence.  Complete and utter silence.  Even the Sorceror Supreme sounds a little embarrassed when he responds to the clear incredulity spoken without a word.  I’ve never attempted to cast it in someone else’s body before, and Xander has less of a pool of magical energy than I do.  He’s growing, flexing his power, but even then, I’d consider it almost useless when we’d need it most.  I’d need us at peak condition and not in a dire situation, which I think you’d all agree does not describe our current state.  I could probably manage an illusion spell or two, and yes, probably the mind-reading to gather information, but we’d need a plan.
Seems like he’s trying to live up to the whole mysterious thing.  He really needs to start sharing necessary information sooner.  Prime seems to understand, but the Don shares Xander’s irritation.
Well, I suppose, we gather information, then formulate a plan.  It’s a start, anyway.
