The Assassin as good as announces his presence in the city. The green hood is a bit of a giveaway. So is the kill list—Templars dying one at a time, the city tearing itself apart in fear or, in some cases, gearing themselves up for what might be a revolution.
“It seems like he’s trying to make some sort of Robin Hood statement,” Tommy frowns, looking at the map of the city with pins at the vigilante’s activities. The map had done nothing besides indicate where Templars tended to live (information they already knew) and that most crime occurred in the Glades (again, information that they already knew). Between him, his father, and the police, they had yet to capture or kill the Assassin. Worse, the Assassin had chosen to appear around the time of Ollie’s return, trying to frame Tommy’s best friend as an Assassin, which alone is enough of a death sentence in Tommy’s eyes. Worse, it probably means that the Assassin is trying to fulfill the mission, finishing off the Queen Who Survived. Assassins are rumored to be good at escapes, but this one’s better than the other Assassins Tommy’s put down. It’s infuriating.
“Probably a ploy to try to earn the public’s sympathy. Other than their time in Masyaf, they have hardly been popular, making them easier to track down and exterminate,” Malcolm guesses. He’s on edge, but then, this Assassin is still alive. In their city.
He glances down at his phone with a grimace when it beats. “The Assassin has been seen at this address in the Glades. I’d prefer to come with you to eliminate this vermin, but we’re receiving a Piece of Eden at the docks, and this could easily be a distraction.”
“That’s just the sort of thing they would do, the thieves,” Tommy snarls, grabbing his bow and stringing it in one smooth motion. “Don’t worry. I won’t underestimate the Assassin, but I have something he doesn’t. I’m fighting for justice.” For Robert, for his mother. Even for Ollie, whose life has been forever changed by the Assassins and not in a good way.
“Don’t get killed. May the Father of Understanding guide your bow and blade.” He hugs Tommy to him.
“May the Father of Understanding guide us,” Tommy agrees, returning the hug.
