Why is it called Wings of Butterflies?  I have no idea, but it has to connect somehow...

                 Mulder,

         I know it's been a while.  I don't know if you remember me.  We went to uni together, Oxford.

         They used to call you 'spooky'.  A bit unfair, but then, it just showed how closed their minds were back then.  (Somewhat silly, I thought.  Uni's the time to believe all kinds of rubbish and just generally have at it...open your mind to everything, and then decide what you truly believe.  That was my philosophy then, and I guess it still is today.  That was our time to be wild and crazy, and not just in actions but ideas too.  Anyway, you can't help being able to read people-useful, actually, no matter what they say.  But I'm rambling.)

         You'll probably also remember that I didn't tend to talk this much.  ...I suppose it's because I've found something troubling, something that goes against everything I ever believed possible.  You'd probably have believed it in a heartbeat.

        I thought you'd be interested, and I don't know who to trust.  You'll have to meet with me, alone, off the job.  I'll tell you where.

         If these conditions are acceptable to you, then think back to our college years and the prank we pulled on March 21st.  If you remember many of our years at Oxford, this should be an easy clue for you.

         I apologize for seeming paranoid, but I hope you'll understand (after all, you did seem the paranoid one in the classroom-no offense.)

                 Doctor Julian Morris

Mulder 'takes the day off' and turns off his cell.  He meets Julian, who looks a little paranoid.  "We can't talk here," he insists, and drags Mulder off-who's wondering what's going on by now.  The doctor keeps asking whether anyone sent him.  "Have you heard of anything called the 'Syndicate'?" he asks.  "Or a cigarette-smoking man?"  He was one of the people being experimented on, and he was supposed to be dead/unconscious.  He wakes up and makes a run for it.  "They've already tried to kill me twice."  More than that, he's got records.  He's got powers now-they weren't putting an alien in him but infecting him with alien DNA, trying to figure out a way to fight back.  And it can work-although he now has a bit of telepathy, which gives him a headache, and he can barely see through the migraine with a shapeshifter nearby, he can still kick its butt.  Julian also sent the files to TLG.  "They may be some of the strangest and most paranoid men I've ever met, and no one ever listens to them.  But they're not working for the Syndicate, and if this information is safe anywhere it's with them."  Mulder's been gone for more than just the one day, so Scully and the rest are starting to wonder where he is...
