If no one saw it, the comment about Eclipse parties being Woodstock for nerds was fantastic.  It was a cool experience, hence CELEBRATIN' WIT FIC OH YEAH.
Not sure what universe this occurs in, other than Clay and Klavier meet in this fic and Edgeworth is actually a prosecutor in this one.  Also, not sure where this occurs, but since Japanifornia is a really weird location anyway we're ignoring that.

“Oh, God,” Ema screams, throwing most of her bag of Snackoos at Klavier the minute he walks up to them.  She’s probably going to complain about the man wasting all of her snack, but when she’s the one always pelting everyone else with it, Apollo’s not all that sympathetic.  “Why did you have to invite the glimmerous fop of all people?”
“Please, as if I would miss an opportunity like this.”  Gavin smiles one of his stupid rock star smiles at Apollo, dropping a packet of crackers in his lap.  “What was I supposed to do, sit inside working on my paperwork ignoring one of the most interesting events in America today?”
“I like him already.”  Clay’s grinning from ear to ear.  “But then, I already did, given that I’m a fan, and you are almost off the hook having invited Klavier Gavin to my little astronomy party.  Almost.  I’ll forgive you for not having told me you were dating an awesome rock star prosecutor eventually.”  Given from his expression and tone, he already has, but he plans to give Apollo trouble about it anyway.
“It’s always a pleasure to meet a fan,” Klavier says in that utterly charming, serious voice of his, holding out a hand for a handshake, and Apollo tries not to roll his eyes or think about his best friend and his boyfriend joining forces to tease him and make his life a misery.
“Ignore them,” Apollo advises, tilting his head up, angling for a kiss, and a recognizable chuckle meets him before a light pressure meets his lips.  Then Klavier smoothly unfolds the chair and sits, holding out a hand and taking one of Apollo’s casually.
“Ewww.  It’s not as if I go around telling everyone to ignore you—” Ema begins, but everyone really is ignoring her now.  Especially as he’s pretty sure Clay was watching avidly, and Mr. Wright and Mr. Edgeworth tend to ignore her when she’s being whiny anyway.
“It’s great to see you, Klavier!”  Trucy says, and the former rock star spares a smile for her.  Apollo had been jealous of that smile, of the attention the prosecutor paid Trucy, for a while, before realizing that the way Gavin treated her was very much like a younger sibling or a niece.
“Und you.  From one performer to another, how are your shows going?” he replies gently, and Trucy begins babbling all about her latest shows and her struggles figuring out a new trick (fortunately Mr. Wright had nixed the chainsaw idea) and Apollo trades grins with Mr. Wright and even Edgeworth, who is sitting in the grass with Mr. Wright with a suit that probably is being ruined by the experience.  Given the almost-smile on the Chief Prosecutor’s face, he doesn’t mind.
“Uh—Mr. Edgeworth, sir!  Pals!  I hope it’s fine that I brought—” Gumshoe yells across the park, stumbling as he tries to run dragging a short-haired shy lady behind him.
Edgeworth rolls his eyes.  “Keep it down, detective, please.  And if you weren’t busy ignoring the evidence again, you’ll note that you’re hardly the only couple attending today.”  He gestures at the arm Mr. Wright’s lightly thrown around his shoulders and Apollo and Klavier still holding hands.  Apollo cheerily waves, just to prove the point.
“Don’t dock my pay—I mean, oh, I’m off the clock and this isn’t a crime scene…” Gumshoe blunders, the woman behind him smiling affectionately, and this time Edgeworth massages his head.
“Just sit, Gumshoe,” he advises, and the man falls onto the grass as if his strings have been cut, and the woman behind him—Maggie, maybe?  Justice thinks he’s heard that somewhere—giggles and sits with him, snuggling up against him.
Klavier’s rings are cool against his skin.  It’s kind of odd, but he likes it, really.
“Oh, since you probably didn’t bring eye protection…” Mr. Edgeworth says, and throws one of those pairs of eclipse sunglasses at Gumshoe, and Maggie squeals, and the urge to roll his eyes probably shows since Klavier squeezes his hand and Clay throws a handful of grass at him.
It’s starting to get darker, kind of like when there’s huge cloud cover only it never quite gets that dark.  Mostly, it’s easy to see with the shadows.  They’re darker, more distinct than Apollo has ever seen them, and he suppresses a superstitious shiver.  It’s science, not magic, he reminds himself.
“What about you?” Apollo asks his boyfriend quietly, despite the fact that everyone can probably hear him considering how close they’re all sitting in People Park, and Ema’s probably going to whine about disgusting public displays.
Klavier waggles his eyebrows—the man is ridiculous, how is it that something like this can be endearing—and pulls out a pair that, from the looks of it, is a far cry from the cardboard versions that look—and feel—like cheap 3D glasses.  They’re sleek and stylish.
“You’re kidding,” he responds flatly, and Klavier laughs.
Honestly, he should laugh more.  He’s got the voice for it.  “I forget you never followed Gavinners news.  We had a concert during an eclipse once.  We handed out glasses for it and everything.  Und of course the stage members had to have more snazzy versions than the audience.”
Apollo blinks, thinks about what he’d seen of a concert of theirs, and decides that doesn’t surprise him at all.  “You stopped playing for that two-minute span of time or whatever?”  He’d be more technical, but he’s not Clay.
         It’s getting still darker.
“Ja.  Our tickets usually sell out, but the interest in that one…”  Klavier shakes his head, squeezing Apollo’s hand.  “It was incredible.”
“I’ll never stop being surprised at how much a rock band cares about the safety of its fans,” Ema admits.
“We were all involved in law.  I’m surprised—well, not from you, but anyone else—I should have thought the evidence was, was, clear proof,” Klavier responds, and it’s almost light-hearted but there’s a slight twinge at Apollo’s wrist that says the prosecutor’s a little more upset than he lets on.
“Shut up, all of you.  Why are you arguing when you could be enjoying this?” Clay asks, then gasps and points.  “Look at the leaves!”
Or rather, the shadows of the leaves, little half-circles of light bitten out of them for a really interesting effect.
“Incredible,” Klavier breathes, and Apollo can see the instant a new song starts forming in his boyfriend’s brain, partially from the look on his face in the dimming light, and partly from the rhythmic tapping his free hand is doing against the arm of the chair.
Mr. Wright exclaims about it and begins rabbiting about in Trucy’s bag for their camera as Mr. Edgeworth looks on fondly, and Ema starts saying something he’s not quite following about pinhole cameras and the angle of the sun (he thinks she’s trying to explain the feather-like appearance of the light and the leaves), and only Clay seems like he’s following, since he’s adding something about partial phases.
Then night falls in the middle of day, and Mr. Wright spoils the moment by yelling, “You will not get away with this villainous plot, Evil Magistrate!” at the sky, loud voice echoing through the park.  “Oof,” he adds, as someone elbows him in the stomach.  Probably Mr. Edgeworth, since he’s the closest.
“Shut up and enjoy the eclipse, Wright.”  Yep.  Mr. Edgeworth.
Klavier’s hand is comfortable, familiar, grounding, and Apollo simply enjoys the moments.
