Continuing of the posting of Really Old Things I Probably Won't Finish, because #JobHuntingIsHard.  Or something.
Reminder that I will still attempt to finish anything not labeled alternative paths, no matter how long it takes.  Alternate versions of chapters don't count, and I figure if I haven't even gotten one clue of where I want to go with the story after five years, the plotbunnies have well and truly abandoned it.

Main Points: Persona 3 AU
Chapter Summary: 10 years post-Graduation, and Officer Sanada is taking part in an odd chase...

Word Count: 660
Rating: Gen + a little cursing

Officer Sanada muttered a curse under his breath, seeing a flash of lights out of the corner of his eye.  Damn, how many of these guys are there? he wondered.  It had been clear hours ago that a trap had been sent and he'd driven right into it, eyes open but not seeing the obvious signs like he should have done.  He'd done a good job making it difficult for them, eluding them for long enough to get them even more furious than before, but it wasn't like that was going to help him much.  Not when they were just going to kill him anyway.
He made a turn with screeching difficulty, something his pursuers couldn't hope to manage with this tight an alleyway.  He'd been taught by the best, of course.  The Kirijo heir.  They never stood a chance.
Well, not by catching up, anyway.  Wearing him out was enough to achieve the same effect.
He glanced back ahead.  Not in time.  Well, I always wanted to go out with a bang anyway, he thought grimly, bracing himself for the impact.  They'd placed caltrops in the way.  Got tired of waiting, probably.
He was airborne, and for a minute he was flying.  Then he thudded, full speed, along the ground-luckily, not for long.  The chain link fence stopped his momentum, barely, though there was probably a Sanada-sized dent in the fence (which had probably left quite the impression on him, too).  He could taste blood in his mouth, and it was only a bit of luck that he was actually wearing leather under the uniform for once.  Still, part of the skin along his arm had been torn off and was now bleeding.  Lucky, too, that he almost always wore gloves.  The bruises that would've formed if he was likely to live to see tomorrow would have been really painful.
He coughed and made an effort to stand to face his attackers, who were roaring into the alley now with grins of triumph.  Take your best shot.  You're just sending me to meet two of my best friends anyway.
He wasn't expecting the bright blue light to appear around him, lighting up the alley like it was day.  No one was, really.  Why should they?  What the hell?
Caesar appeared, looking every bit as Sanada remembered.  It felt like a hole in his heart was being filled.  He'd missed this.  Of course, this probably shouldn’t be happening.  He hadn’t been able to summon him in years.  And there was the whole problem about no longer owning the Evoker, too…
But then his Persona started to change, shrinking a little.  The sword was the same, true.  None of the equipment changed.  But the body was different-smaller, thinner, shorter.  And the hair...
It felt like a punch in the gut.  A knuckle to the jaw.  The hair was blue.
He struggled into a sitting position.  I'm in shock, he realized distantly.  The world felt far away, and it was all moving too fast.  He was fairly certain some sort of fight was going on in the world beyond him, but he was too dazed to follow it at all.  Better just sit here and take his time.  This was...there was no way this was reality.  It was all something different.  Crazy.  Whatever.
The sound of vehicles speeding away fell into the distance.  He struggled to stand again, and then his Persona turned to face him with a look of concern.
He'd recognize that young face, those grey-blue eyes staring into his own anywhere.  But this was clearly impossible.
The Persona shrunk until it was the size of a man and crouched in front of him, reaching out with hands already glowing.  He felt the pain ease, but then, that was probably just a hallucination caused by the agony (of his dying?).  There was no way any of this was real.
Then the apparition smiled.  "Hello, Akihiko-senpai."
          His consciousness faded into darkness.
