Instead, he stretches out on the grass, lazing in the sun, glancing through his phone. He’s looking at types of tea. It’s not really that enthralling—he’ll drink pretty much whatever Willow makes him, but he doesn’t go out of his way to have it—but it’s as good a cover as any.
He had a suspicion as to why Lisa was heading to a kid’s soccer match, given what little he’d overheard in the grocery store—or rather, he’d known, but he’d suspected something else—and when he saw one of the children, that suspicion was all but confirmed.
Some, those not brought up in the Brotherhood, might have some jealousy, but not Xander. Everything is permitted, after all. There were, just like physics stated, consequences to every action. It just happened that this consequence was adorable, a mini-Dean running around. Xander had wondered, briefly, what a child of Dean’s would look like, but hadn’t dared broach the subject, given how Dean got about that. And the Slayer and Witch said he was liable to dive out windows the instant a discussion became too difficult. Sometimes, dating Dean was rather like trying to coax a very flightly eagle, not that he minds. He does love a challenge, and the Elders had once physically flung him onto the roof of a movie theater just to prevent him from being bored. Because yes. Bad things happen when he gets bored.
On mission, he usually finds something for himself to do, which is why a recently appointed Master Assassin still finds himself doing grunt work, like pickpocketing potentially Abstergo employees. Again, he prefers having something to do.
Lisa is exactly as paranoid as he expected, given that she had briefly dated Dean, and glares at him sprawled out on the grass. Even though he’s a decent distance away, and it’s a free park. He smiles sunnily back and waves, laying back and closing his eyes. It’s a risk taking his eyes off them, yes, but it should help put her at ease more than playing with his phone, and his hearing is also pretty acute. Nothing happens—yet. But that doesn’t mean nothing will, or that his job’s over.
