Walk in the Valley
this is inspired by phantom (syfy), xander’s AFAB, with the new name Arden Mihai, post series. Do not ask where it came from I don’t know. That being said, I don’t think it’s as weird as Primordium. I think JealousyFree!Xander sets the bar of weird for me.
he’s got a somewhat uncontrolled form of psychometry, only he doesn’t just get impressions from objects—people and places sometimes trigger it too. Other than that 90% of what he does is sheer tech and connections.
Jenna is basically the Guran; she is there to give any and all support needed. The hero is one created by the Kalderash Romani to protect all those not given a place in society. They have put down a few facilities, but the main facility is a really, really fancy boat.
The “Vandy” is Caleb Marsh, take that how you will.

Marsh clearly thinks this is all a waste of time, but Arden’s the Eagle and has last say on everything, unless he says otherwise. And while their great leader emphasizes delegation and collaborative leadership, he doesn’t mind getting involved in the organizational details that Marsh thinks are clearly beneath him. “Here's the applications.” They’re beefing up their science division—and beyond the usual background checks, the Eagle’s eyes might spot something they don’t, seeing beyond the realms of reality as they do.
He pauses on one, and she barely has to glance over to see which of folders containing the application, background check, and the rest he’d stopped on, because she was just his type. “Woah.”
She smiles, shaking her head, unlike Marsh, whose ever-present scowl seems to only have deepened. “I know. She's pretty.”
“Yeah, but—that’s not the point.” He blushes and fidgets, pushing the folder at her, which she takes. Clearly, she’s missing something. “No, I—I knew her, and you should know her name, too. We had a team on her safety, back when I first joined you guys.”
Back before they found out that the Slayer was her best friend and less likely to draw unwanted attention from the Eagle’s enemies—yes, that’s right. Rosenberg. She’ll have to take another look at the system, considering that should have been flagged the second her name came up. “She's really smart. You'd be lucky to have her.” As if he isn’t the employer, at the end of the day.
As expected, Marsh immediately jumps to the security risks. “Would she be a liability?”
“On the one hand, when I knew her anyway, she wouldn't be the type to think, oh, you used to be this girl I knew.” He almost manages to make his voice casual, but they have known him for a long time. They do him the courtesy of not calling him out on it, however. “On the other hand, she's probably smarter, if anything. She’ll probably work out something’s going on pretty quickly. Though that could wind up being an asset.” He shrugs.
“It's your call,” Marsh snaps, and it’s obvious how long they’ve been working together, too, the fact that he doesn’t flinch or even wince at the comment.
He twirls in the seat a little, slouching down. “...Let's see if she passes the interview first. We do have a really collaborative environment, so she’ll have to get along with everyone. It's a moot point if she doesn't.” It’s the sort of answer Marsh isn’t fond of, preferring the decisive responses, but the 22nd Eagle doesn’t like to strike with haste, and if Marsh wasn’t quite such a stickler for tradition, he’d have gotten used to it already.
