Good Old Days
Happy New Year!
Main Points:
Persona 2/Persona 4 crossover (Broken Hero)
Chapter Summary: Tatsuya's trying to be responsible. Or take all the responsibility on himself. From him it looks the same in the end.
Word Count: 475
Rating: gen
Pairing: Eventual Jun/Tatsuya (again) and also probably Souji/Yosuke (there are hints anyway)
“You’re not getting involved further.” Tatsuya seems to be trying to out-scowl the boys. While his expression is fierce, sitting on a plastic chair in the food court that squeaks every time he readjusts to try to find a comfortable position for the wound-that-no-longer-exists does not help him seem any more intimidating. It might have been a day, but the body remembers injuries, even after magical healing.
“Oh, yeah, like you were too impressive in there yourself, Mr. I Got Stabbed!” Hanamura-kun taunts, voice getting a little too loud, likely covering up for his own insecurities.
Jun’s about to step in, seeing the way his old friend grows even more thunderous, but is surprised when Seta-kun beats him to it.
“Do you want to get arrested again?” he hisses, glancing around the mostly empty food court, and Hanamura-kun instantly settles down, looking a bit guilty.
Tatsuya glances down at his lighter, flicking it in lieu of anything to say. He’s a little too bewildered to have any words to offer. Fortunately, Seta-kun seems to understand that just as well as Jun does—possibly because he communicates in the same manner. “We…might have gotten a little too enthusiastic about obtaining weapons.” It’s sweet, because he’s clearly covering for Hanamura-kun. “In any case, a girl from our school has gone missing. To borrow a phrase from you, Kashihara-san, we can’t simply sit idly by.”
“If we don’t allow them to tag along, they’ll just go in by themselves. Again.” Jun knows the instant he’s called it correctly, because the shocked and sheepish looks on the boys are enough to almost break down the police officer’s stoic expression, replacing it, too, with a look of shock. “If Big Sis Maya and Mayuzumi-san had told us that they would take care of things and to stay out of it, would you have listened?”
“Saki-senpai died. I have to know why,” Hanamura-kun agrees, for once as intense as Tatsuya.
“I’m not going to let Yosuke-kun do this himself. And it was Chie-chan’s best friend who’s missing.” The grey-haired kid looks just as determined. Hanamura-kun looks surprised but grateful.
Tatsuya sighs. “Your uncle’s going to kill me,” he tells Seta-kun. Doubtless he won’t be happy, particularly since Tatsuya refuses to explain his current avenue of investigation or why a kadÅka is accompanying him. He likes him well enough, seemingly holding any family in high regard, and is protective in his own way, but his detective’s instincts are accurately identifying that something is going on that Tatsuya refuses to explain, and he’s clearly unhappy about that.
“I wouldn’t let that happen, Suou-san,” Seta-kun insists, just as Jun chuckles.
“I’m the one that’s out of practice, not you.” He ignores Seta-kun’s concerned expression—as if their problems are any concern of teenagers who have just signed themselves up to fight for their lives.
