Innocent Sin Online: Forum Post #1
At least I'm writing again.
And before the action started up, Yosuke insisted that he be able to write forum posts about the background, specifically the game, since I was going to have to do that anyway. So I gave him the stage. (In retrospect, that might've been a mistake ;) hehe)
I started typing out a Class guide, because some people showed some interest in Saki-senpai doing it, so she did some of the work, but as people know she’s kind of been absent from ISO lately. No, I don’t know exactly why. Would people stop asking? And, well, I didn’t want to just leave it unfinished. So, I’m trying to actually type sentences normally, finish it up in a way that doesn’t reflect badly. She can post her own when she comes back if she feels like it.
Going into this, I realize it’s pretty over-the-top insane to try to do, which is maybe why she took so long and hasn’t finished yet. I might end up just going through and making a Character guide, because I love ISO, but we’ll see. I probably won’t be able to get very in-depth, because I’ve been kind of focusing on my alt lately and he’s pretty low and I haven’t actually played many of the Classes. But I’ll do my best, and I’m sure all of you lovely viewers can help. ;)
I’ll start out with a thing that will probably drive a ton of people including myself crazy. But it’s okay because I’m already crazy, so all you people out on the internet, watch out! ;) That’s totally simplifying all the classes into relatable things from other games. Don’t yell at me that they’re not like certain things from other games. I realize that. I’m just trying to simplify because ISO can be a touch complicated.
I’ll go by Major Arcana. All the classes have official names, but the fanbase realized that they all correspond to Arcana, so we’ve pretty much all started calling them by their Arcana names instead. There’s not 100% agreement on which Arcana are which, but there’s the most agreement on the ones I’m going to tell you, so that what I’m going with.
I’m not going to capitalize Class every time it comes up, partly because I’m probably going to forget and also because too many capitalized things get hard to read sometimes. In other games, Classes are also called Archetypes, Jobs, or Specializations. Forget the meaning of specialization when you’re here, because it’s used for other things in this game.
Okay, another thing before I hit the Classes oversimplification tour. Maybe I’m putting it off a little. This will introduce just a slight amount of complicated, but it’s all to avoid further confusion. There are different kinds of classes. There’s the normal ones. That’s what you’ll probably be dealing with, for the most part. There’s Original Classes, which are ones that were around when the game first started. A lot of them, like all of the Master Classes and the Unlockable Classes, were added later. Now, I’ve just mentioned the other two. Unlockable Classes are pretty easy to understand. They’re Classes that aren’t available the second you start up the game, but after you play through a character to the level cap, you can play them for your second character. Technically, Master Classes are also Unlockable Classes, but the difference is that they’re ways to improve your character after you reach the level cap. Unlockable Classes act just like normal classes, only they’re not available right away. Master Classes are an additional level of power that can be added to a normal or Unlockable class once you’ve reached the level cap.
Got it? (If not, feel free to comment with questions, it’s okay!)
Okay, oversimplification go! (This is easier for some than others :( especially the Master Classes. I’ll go into detail later and hopefully clear up any confusion, but luckily you don’t have to worry about Master Classes for a while)
