Also, my exposure to the Backrooms came far before the talented teenager took over the stage and convinced everybody he’d invented the concept. Somehow. (People don’t do research.) He did a good job, but there’s some amount of ‘there was a community storytelling here and that got lost in the fame’. For me, it was the Puppet Combo patreon game, and I really liked that one. I didn’t fall back into it really until the 2020 election, at which point I was like ‘yeah eldritch horror is less scary than the possibility of coming under a dictatorship in my lifetime, I’m gonna dive full in’. ...Honestly, that might happen again this November.
