a lot of these bad reboots-star wars, devil may cry, doctor who--involve a kinda hostile attitude toward the past versions. literally setting it on fire, the wig thing, bringing back caricatures of past doctors and companions. what do they think they're gonna accomplish?
(and yes, I consider the grand moff's run on doctor who a reboot. he definitely acted like it was)
it's all so mean-spirited, and it definitely won't make the original fans happy. (OG Dante could make fun of himself but it was all in good fun; he could do it because he knew what he was capable of.) it also feels desperate. like, you're not strong enough to stand on your own two feet, so you gotta tear something down to "have a chance".
