Duel Destinies returns, thanks to Inscryption.  You should really go check it out, particularly if you were a fan of the darker tone of Yugioh Season Zero.

Main Points:
Ace Attorney/YuGiOh crossover universe.  Or something.  (Duel Destinies!)
Summary: Apollo wins the duel and is worried about Klavier.
Word Count: 715
Rating: Teen (because Kristoph Gavin, who seems to be worse when he doesn't even physically appear in the part)
Pairing: for now one-sided Klavier has a crush on Apollo

When the duel ends, Klavier collapses like the broken puppet Kristoph had been treating him as, and Apollo panics, shaking him.  “Klavier!  Klavier, don’t let him have killed you!”  He wouldn’t put it past the man, either.  He absolutely would be the type to lie about bringing back his brother’s soul.  Eventually, though, the man stirs.
“Hey, are you all right?” Apollo asks, turning down the volume with effort.  He’s right next to the flashy duelist.  The man probably wouldn’t appreciate it.  His hearing’s already got enough to deal with what with the concerts.
Klavier mumbles something into a tanned hand, and, well, at least he probably has his soul back.
“I’m sorry; I didn’t hear that.” Apollo puts a comforting hand on the man’s back, and he leans into it, apparently seeking support.  Not that Apollo can blame him, after a demonstration like that.
“Define ‘all right’, schatzi.”  When the younger Gavin lifts his head, he looks world-weary, disheveled, which…yeah, that had been an intense Duel (but yeah, of course it had, it was Apollo’s first Shadow Duel) and Kristoph really hadn’t cared about keeping his brother in one piece.
“Uhh…well, I’d been really scared you were going to die or lose your soul,” Apollo replies sheepishly, the adrenaline draining, and Klavier laughs only slightly hysterically.
“In that case, I’m always all right,” and the sheer anguish in his voice physically hurts Justice’s heart.
“I…I guess you know what happened?” he asks hesitantly, not sure how to start explaining if he doesn’t.
If Apollo thought Klavier really was capable of staying furious at him, he might be a little more concerned at the anger waking in the man’s eyes.  “I am not an airhead despite appearances, danke.
“That’s not—that’s definitely not what I meant, Klavier.”  He sighs.  “I just…wasn’t sure if you were watching, or trapped in your own body, or if you weren’t even aware…”
“Ahaa,” the blond responds softly.  “Nein, I…I was here as Kris used mein own mouth to call me…”  His voice fails him, and Apollo can hardly blame him.  “I suppose I need no dramatic confession today.”
“There’s nothing wrong with having a crush, Klavier.”  He doesn’t move his hand, and is impressed by how much more human the man seems, now.  Though tragedy always has that effect.
Klavier finally starts uncurling himself from where he lies painfully on the floor, though he’s still carefully not looking at Apollo’s face.  “Even when you are the object of that crush, Stirni?”
Apollo sighs, because he really doesn’t need to add to poor man’s heartache.  “Absolutely not.  A crush is perfectly normal.  It doesn’t make you an awful person.  You’re turning out to be pretty okay, when you’re not being a little obnoxious about it, and maybe I can think about this all later.  I just do not have time for this, given, you know, Shadow Duels are real, apparently the disgraced Phoenix Wright was right all along, your brother’s involved somehow and he was my mentor, so I’m probably getting into trouble for my connection to one of them, and who knows what else is going on.”
He doesn’t miss the determination that crosses the man’s face.  “I like it.  Inspiring speech, schatzi.  Let me help.”
Apollo frowns.  “You’ve already suffered enough.”  Really, it’s not his fight…
The sigh and slightly hurt look is answer enough.  “I don’t require a treat for doing the right thing.  It’s reward enough.  Besides, do you really think Kris would be content enough to let me just stand by, after all that he has said?”
Those are good enough points.  And it seems Klavier had taken things entirely the wrong way, but he’s definitely not the type.  Neither of them are, really.  “That’s really not what I meant…”  And then there’s the slightest hint of a smile, and Apollo groans.  “Stop teasing me.”
“Ja.  I don’t always intend to say such things, but I will try.”  He’s…actually nervous to the point he’s just babbling?  That’s oddly endearing, really.
“Then welcome to the team, I guess.”  That warm smile as they shake on it is genuine, much more so than his usual, though if he’s often trying to hide how nervous he is around Apollo or just impress fans, that would explain…well, everything, really.
