Buffy/Devil May Cry Fusion, Buffy AU
Chapter Summary: This is the guide in its original form. I'm posting it because I'm obviously not through the next Mission yet (to the point it's not even named). I'm behind on everything.
Also, warning, as uneasy as I was about the previous guide post, that isn't remotely close to how I felt about this one. Not even kidding, it's one of the reasons I got partway through Mission 1 and then stopped. I was getting caught up on trying to write this thing and categorize stuff and it was a little paralyzing. Also some of the stuff is cringey/cheesy (like the categorization system for demons). You'll probably recognize some of the Devil Arms but not others, and one of the demons.
The narrator for this one is Giles, so you can see a bit of the "prologue" from there.
Word Count: 1647
Rating: Teen?
Warning: Story spoilers ahead. Cheesy.
Devil Arms
-(-- Kryvirk Kala
Element: Blood
Spirit: Spike (AKA William the Bloody)
Type: Two-handed
Details: Extremely Faithful. Bloodthirsty, and has a sort of...crush/obsession with its current owner, one Alexander Blade. For some reason, the young half-demon seems to return the feelings, a situation which requires a close eye. It so happens that the sword is mostly bored, and is "love's bitch", which explains its current reluctance to hurt any of us. William the Bloody has even turned out to be useful, though for once I agree with Angel in that this particular sword is dangerous to us, but potentially more importantly, Buffy.
-(-- Asmosaos
Element: Storm (Lightning)
Spirit: Kitao Anzai, Japanese Male, brother to sword 3 (Excitable)
Type: One-handed
Details: Faithful. This sword appears to appeal to Xander's 'geekiness'. Out of all of his so-called 'Devil Arms', I believe Asmosaos is the least likely to pose a threat-to ourselves, of course.
-(-- Eghira
Element: Storm (Rain)
Spirit: Kitao Yachi, Japanese Female, sister to sword 2 (Proper)
Type: One-handed
Details: Faithful. Xander doesn't appear to like this sword very much...mostly because the spirit within tends to shut him down more often than he cares to deal with. Despite his tendency, however, he needs the direction more than he cares to admit, so I believe Eghira is actually good for him.
_/-- Shiva
Element: Void
Details: Essence of destruction, way too powerful to fully channel. Faithful.
_/-- Brahma
Element: Creation
Details: Faithful.
Gun Details: Shiva and Brahma form a pair. Both guns have a set number of bullets, though putting in one bullet results in over 20 available. When they run out, they change to shooting “elemental” bullets, of which there’s 250-500. Shots can be charged or switched to trick shots, but use up elemental bullet slots faster. Both guns can cancel each other’s shots. Handy in certain circumstances. It’s possible to switch between elemental and regular bullets, or to augment normal bullets. This, of course, uses ‘elemental bullet’ slots. Brahma’s shots do extra damage to Chaos or Necromantic aligned clans.
Moves <>
*Shiva
-Silent Mode: Shiva goes almost invisible. It makes dodging much more difficult, and the effects become more unpredictable.
*Shiva
-Death Comes: Infusing Shiva’s bullets with Shiva’s power. Becomes highly unpredictable, and the mere touch of the energy is enough to severely wound.
*Shiva
-I Am Become Death: Absolute manic phase, in which even the owner has a high chance of being hit. Basically Kamikaze move. All enemies, surrounding area can be damaged or completely destroyed, cannot kill owner but can place owner in coma.
* Kryvirk Kala
-Mind Hijack: Briefly, (Spike) will turn into merely a very powerful magical sword, but the spirit inside will have gone awol. Instead, it will hop into certain types of enemies and take control over their actions. The ability to take over as well as the time to do so depends on the type of enemy, as well as mental resistance.
-Stagger: teleport to and disorient enemy with a heavy blow as you teleport, requires good sense of the enemy
* Kryvirk Kala
-C’mere Baby: Works as a type of charm. Can be targeted or AoE, but the chance for success goes down for AoE.
* Kryvirk Kala
-Fang Drain: Drains some of enemy’s health and returns it either as spiritual power for sword or actual health for owner.
* Kryvirk Kala
-Ghost Form: Spike can manifest as a ghost form, connected to the sword but still separate. Spike can walk through walls, but like a poltergeist he is able to touch physical objects to an extent and can fight, albeit weakly.
*Asmosaos AND Eghira
-Bolt Storm: Eghira can call upon the powers of water, drenching enemies, making sure that Asmosaos's summoned lightning bolts will do a lot more damage, electrifying all but the user in their path. (I have yet to determine exactly why Xander is immune to lightning, but suspect it has something to do with his demon blood.)
*Any Weapon
-Shock Charge: Only from ‘Faithful’ weapons (i.e. ones that like Xander and have dedicated themselves to serving him). Can channel their own power to fuel Xander’s, but it weakens their attacks.
(it’s supposed to be a gun…)
later Devil Arms: Shard of Night
Enemies
(>_<) Vile Swarm
Type: Flying enemies. Swarm.
Clan:
Strategies: Fighting at a distance, if you can easily take them out and quickly, is effective. Otherwise, pulling them in toward you by grabbing their wings is a good idea. You must take them out quickly and quietly or they’ll call more (especially if they can escape into a different room.)
Difficulty Level: Annoying. Pile On.
(>_<) Vile Assault
(>_<) Morthane
Clan: Darkness Falls
(>_<) Shæde
Type: Assassin
Clan: Darkness Falls
Strategies: Shæde can be a pain. You really need to figure out when you’re in a Shæde-infested area pretty quickly. They attach to the shadows of living things, grow, and can backstab you when you’re least expecting it. They can act like your shadow’s normal for a while, so moving on doesn’t mean you can’t have picked up a Shæde or two. There are never more than five in a room/hallway, but adjacent rooms and hallways may be infested, and even two can be enough to overwhelm. There is no limit to the number of Shæde that can attach to your shadow. The telltale signs of an infestation are a slight flickering around windows, particularly stained glass windows, in which people may appear to move, and an increase in the intensity of the difference between light and shadow, as well as cleaner lines (greys tend to disappear). These can sound subjective, but you’ll figure out how to judge the differences. The best approach, especially if you want to avoid them, is to stick to the shadows and don’t let your shadow appear in the patches of light. If it does, even by a little, there’s a very good chance your shadow has been infected by a Shæde. Shæde will pounce as soon as they see an opening, but once you have an infected shadow they can be very patient. Your best chance, should you mess up or choose to fight them, is to out-wait them. This can take hours. If they run out of patience, or if you can trick them into attacking you, you can attack them. If you can land a hit within the first couple seconds, you can trap it in manifested form. The fight from there on isn’t easy by any means, but one of the Shæde’s greatest advantages is gone. If you’re not so lucky, it will slip between intangible shadow-form and manifested form often, and with every change the time to trap it in manifested form lessens. Ahmuhl Stones, either found (rarely) or bought from the store, can detect creatures of the Darkness Falls Clan, including Shædes. THESE ARE LIFESAVERS. USE THEM. You can even ‘turn them on’ and ‘turn them off’ (I recommend before and after every room) for a quick check on the next room and yourself to save ‘battery power’. They will run out eventually. If you’ve got an infected shadow, it’s time for the waiting game.
Difficulty Level: Struggle (You can get 5 per room. This in no way reflects the difficulty of the enemies themselves. The actual battle with a manifested Shæde is more like a Struggle or Workout. If they backstab you and you’ve got no idea it’s coming, it will just kill you. No pleading will change anything.)
(>_<) Ehglid
(>_<) Undead Drake
Difficulty Level: Die
(>_<) Dracolich
Difficulty Level: World Boss
(>_<) Fiend
(>_<) Heat
Type: Corrupter
Clan: Tempter
Strategy: Heat work vaguely like succubi and incubi. They will attempt to heat the room up, as this increases the chances of success of their skills. Once they have done that, they will attempt to charm you. Unlike some of the other tempters, they couldn’t care less about having you attack your party members. Instead, all they want is to couple with you. Cool down the room as quickly as possible; this appears to be the most efficient method of stopping their skills. If they get the chance to charm you, they will attempt to get you alone. IF FOR WHATEVER REASON YOU WERE CHARMED, THERE IS VERY LITTLE CHANCE BUT STILL SOME. DO NOT ACCOMPANY THEM (OR MORE REALISTICALLY LET ANOTHER COMPANY MEMBER GO). Getting it on with a Heat is just asking for trouble. It highly weakens power, if the climax doesn’t kill you outright, and has a very high chance of changing you into a Toy. Something to keep in mind is that Heat prefer to a) work in heated environments (Cold powers are extremely effective against these targets.) b) Heat prefer to work alone. If one Heat is in the area, usually they will avoid the area (and claim their own territory).

Strategy: These are your average demon cultists. Well, sort of. They're actually a lot stronger, for one thing, and usually like to try to summon world-ending terrors bigger than they are. So, stopping any sort of chanting or ritualistic impulses on their part is generally a good idea.
