Runaway
You get to see Xander's DT better in this one, eee. Plus the last of the good trio's here (should I not use that word? Is that a bad word for this fandom? like w-i-s-h?).
Giles continues to not know how to treat Xander.
Willow is a little more hyper in this universe, and honestly, she might not have had to run away. She just did it anyway. Impulsive Willow makes strange decisions fueled by caffeine and cake.
also I have a feeling I'm going to run with the technomage for Willow, and also all of her fight songs are going to be techno...Buffy I think gets Birthday Massacre because of that Shallow Grave thing.

Main Points:
Buffy/Devil May Cry Crossover, Buffy AU
Chapter Summary: Giles tests out a few new powers and meets someone from Xander's past.
Word Count: 530
Rating: Gen
It had taken a little while for Giles to feel comfortable with the idea of venturing outside, particularly with the revelation that the Council had, in fact, released a missing person’s report and indicated he was a dangerous kidnapper. He hadn’t seen who had left the TV on in the elaborate dining room, but assumed it was the boy’s way of letting him know without getting in his face. It’s honestly kind of pathetically lonely, the way he seems to be trying to help without getting yelled at or judged, but Giles has to steel himself against the stirrings of sympathy for a demon.
Still, the boy kept venturing out, sometimes with that longsword casually slung over his back, and occasionally came back with new weapons, and apparently no one stopped him considering he had yet to be arrested, so he wanders out to go get groceries, using a few skills he never thought he’d use again. He doesn’t even get a second glance, not even from the woman at the counter reading a newpaper with his face on it. Clearly, the young one has done something, although what he’s done is another story. When he returns, Buffy, Xander, and a young red-headed girl he doesn’t recognize are sitting in the dining room. Buffy seems to be watching silently with rapt attention as if it's one of those infernal shows on that...idiot box.
“Look, I’m glad you’re okay and all, but you can’t stay,” Xander’s saying, and the redhead looks like he just kicked her puppy.
“But you’re okay. I needed to know—” she begins, and the teenager stands abruptly.
“In case you didn’t get it, I was that monster you found in Jesse’s room.”
And then he transforms.
Bones rip out of his flesh, blackening on contact with the air so his spine is a bunch of spikes at his back, leading down to a spiky tail, and other bones, such as his collar bones and elbows, poke out. The face elongates to a dragon-like snout, complete with deadly looking fangs. His eyes turn a dark, navy, hypnotizing blue that matches the rest of the aesthetic. Wings, black and smoky, slightly translucent, extend from his back. Hands lengthen into claws. His legs extend, becoming more cat-like, increasing his own height.
He looks truly demonic. Fascinating, from a distance.
“I don’t have anywhere else to go. I don’t know if I’m like you, but…when I heard you and Jesse were missing, I freaked out and…things exploded,” She sounds sheepish. “I had to run.”
“Willow, I want to protect you,” the demon argues, voice also sounding distorted. Shockingly, though, there’s what sounds like emotion in his voice. Frustration, defeat.
“You’re still Xander. Just a bit spikier.” She reaches out and touches his face, and an instant later, the entire demonic form melts away.
“I don’t want you to become a hobo, even if you’re making dumb decisions, so…welcome to the hotel, I guess.”
She claps her hands, and he blushes and looks away.
Well. At least there’s a little evidence of his humanity, other than brief interactions they’ve had, coupled with a definitive demonstration of his inhumanity. It’s rather troubling.
