Star Trek: The Paradise Syndrome (First Watch: S3E3)

Death/injury count: kirk has amnesia. Miramanee dead.  Spock sleepless and running himself ragged for a few weeks. heartbreak

Bones and Kirk know their flowers.

Something that says I saw bits of this while cooking the other day.

So they do do things like diverting volcanos.  Only, y’know, it’s a common thing, not a thing to question, as long as you do it without being noticed, and they do it with intelligence.

THEY’RE SHOWING THAT THERE’S DIFFERENT TRIBES.

Tahiti syndrome?  There’s no place like Tahiti.  (also the issues with pike.)

Sorry scotty I might’ve just gotten kidnapped by an obelisk.

I said nothing about not coming back.

OH MAN THAT’S STORYTELLING while Mccoy sits there and thinks Spock just inches the rock ever so very little closer.

That obelisk vaguely reminds me of stargate.

Oh man that’s a pretty whatever it is behind scotty.  I wonder what it is and how it works.

Amused he remembers cpr also he’s kissing someone to save them.  It’d be easy to tweak that for cambion!jim

(wait.  I vaguely remember doing that for cpr, too.  I’m pretty sure that’s not how you do it anymore)

Among my people I’m definitely not the medicine man.

Scotty talking to the ship = me every time I use technology

Great, jealousy.

His father saw the danger in him.

I’m not sure how I feel about Miramanee or this storyline.  I know how it ends, because the internet is one big spoiler, but.

We changed your clothes while you slept.

Oh, hey, he’s getting older, that hairstyle is Admiral.

….what is the timeline of…oh, okay, thanks spock.

You’re both worrying in your own ways.

Uh, yeaaah.  Pretty sure coyote, etc bled?  (or are you just excited about that because it means you could maybe kill him?)

He’s a pacifist, man.

I like when bones can admit he’s wrong and shows concern for spock too.

I see you managed to get your shirt off.

Kirk’s brain is like “this is important figure this out kirk before it’s too late”

See, jim’s at his happiest when he has a long term relationship with family (but doesn’t think he deserves it)

See?  Jim doesn’t think women’s only place is in the kitchen either.

Did they sign it saying “we’re the preservers, you’re welcome”?

I don’t think they practiced stonings.  Pretty sure that’s a European thing.

Bones doesn’t seem surprised to see kirk.

That ‘report noted’ like ‘why can you not give me good news’

“he is an extremely dynamic individual” understatement, spock.

“kirk to enterprise” is the opening sequence?  What???  That’s.  okay, that’s a deus ex something, anyway.

Spock’s music knowledge is incredibly useful.

A memory beam, huh?

Wait they let you in a tent or whatever?

She’s interesting, character-wise.  Mostly cause I don’t know how to feel about her.  (she is interested in technology, even if it’s simple, and has a backbone, so there’s that)

What I’m getting here, Jim, is never trust an episode with the word ‘paradise’ in the title.
